YouTube Videos

The 8th graders spent a couple of weeks creating YouTube videos, by using the YouTube video editor. They each were given the task to create a video about what they thought of when thinking of America and all of its beauty. Here are some you should check out.

Halloween

My favorite Halloween memory is more of an October memory. One of my classmates had a birthday in October and she always had the best birthday parties. Now while they weren't always necessarily "Halloween" themed they usually were fairly scary.

One birthday party I remember in particular was when we took a tour of "haunted houses" around town. Either her Mother or the current owners of the house shared their haunting stories with us. Whether or not they were true I'll never know, but they certainly scared a bunch of young girls. I think that I will always vividly remember these stories, especially because the homes were in my own neighborhood. Maybe I'll have to one day share them with my daughter and her friends.

Another great birthday party memory I have was when we were going out in the country because there had been some "hobos" sited on my classmates grandparent's farm. So you have to imagine about 10 girls crammed in the back of a station wagon heading out into the country to talk to the hobos. Needless to say before we even got there we were on edge. It was a dark night, the moon and stars were covered by clouds, it was a very omnious evening. Once we arrived at the farm we were lucky
enough that there were some fortune tellers who were also there. It was definitely our lucky night, hobos and fortune tellers, what more could we want. As it goes with young scared girls there was lots of screaming and running and hiding. But, overall I think a good time was had by all.

These are just two of my favorite memories from October. While it didn't take much to scare us we always enjoyed the adventures we knew we were sure to have.

8th Grade

In 8th grade Computer Apps class we've been creating various flyers. These flyers are for a variety of activities, sometimes they're selling something other times they're advertising a specific event.

Each student will also be creating a flyer for a local business.

In 8th grade I also focus on Digital Citizenship, which means helping the students become wise users of the digital world. We will learn about everything from being safe online, creating safe passwords, to using proper researching techniques.

So far I feel that the year is off to a great start!

Summer

My favorite thing about summer vacation was being able to spend time with my family. Haylee and I got to spend lots of time outside. We enjoyed swinging, going for four wheeler rides, picking flowers, and just enjoying the great outdoors. Haylee absolutely loves books, so it was great that we got to enjoy the weekly story hour at the Burr Oak Library.
